How To Negotiate Lower Wholesale Prices In New York

This is one of my favorite negotiating tips for getting lower wholesale prices in New York. It’s based on the fact that wholesalers and retailers need to move their merchandise quickly to stay in business since their rent is so high and the competition from other vendors is intense.

While this can work anywhere, I believe it is ideal for New York.

Basically, New York wholesalers and retailers are in a market where everyone is constantly bringing in new merchandise. If they want to compete they need to also bring in new merchandise.

But remember, they can only bring in new merchandise when they have sold their current merchandise. And since the rent is so high they need to make sure that they are making sales all the time.

So my negotiating tip is as follows.

When visiting New York wholesalers or retailers you will want to speak to the owner of the business.

You will ask what merchandise they have that is simply not moving. You will then make a fair, but low, offer on the merchandise. If the business owner wants to move it out he will seriously consider your price provided that it is reasonable.

Try it out and let me know how it goes!
